Bio/Research

Adriana Rodriguez de Valentini graduated in 1989 from the Medical School of University of La Plata, Argentina and then, in 1996, completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology from the University Central of Venezuela. She moved to Canada in 2005 and initially worked for four years at Women’s College Hospital, where she completed a Master of Science at the Institute of Medical Science, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. Subsequently, she worked another four years at Sunnybrook Research Institute in Toronto. Rodriguez has worked in the research areas of breast cancer in pregnancy and diabetes in pregnancy.

She graduated from the International Midwifery Pre-registration Program at Toronto Metropolitan University in 2015, and since then, has been working at West End Midwives (WEM). WEM provides services to an underserved and marginalized population located in the northwest of Toronto. Rodriguez loves to work with this population and is a strong supporter of diversity, equity and antiracism. She has been a preceptor for the Midwifery Education Program for several years and has also played different roles as a teaching assistant, contract lecturer and now an assistant professor. In her spare time, she likes to do a little bit of everything, including gardening, jogging and even playing volleyball with friends, but her greatest love is spending time with her family.
