Bio/Research

Dr. Anton de Ruiter is interested in the dynamics, guidance, navigation and control of aerospace systems, with a particular focus on space systems.

He received a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Canterbury in 1999 and a Master of Applied Science and Ph.D. degrees in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Toronto in 2001 and 2005, respectively. For his doctoral research, he focused on multiple objective control system designs for systems made up of a number of subsystems. In particular, he developed a method for partially automating the control system design process for such systems. Between 2006 and 2008, he was a visiting research fellow at the Canadian Space Agency in St-Hubert, Quebec, where he was involved in the development of a joint Canadian/Japanese nanosatellite formation flying mission concept.
