Bio/Research

Catherine Dowling completed a Master of Education following degrees in Architecture, Environmental Studies and Interior Design. She studied building construction at Arcosanti in Arizona and ceramics at Dundas Valley School of Art and Haliburton Centre for the Arts. Her collaborative studio Dowling Architects has received awards and been published widely. Teaching, research and practice are founded on design and construction excellence, design thinking and culture, emphasizing the process of making. During the Potter’s Guild of Hamilton and Region ‘Wood Firing Mentorship Program’, her academic research and making investigated traditional clay storage vessel forms of indigenous North American peoples.
