Darius Rackus is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biology in the Faculty of Science at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson). Rackus earned his PhD in analytical chemistry from the University of Toronto under the supervision of Aaron Wheeler. His graduate research focused on integrating sensors and bioassays with digital microfluidic platforms. This was followed by a postdoctoral research under Keith Pardee and Aaron Wheeler translating cell-free synthetic biology-based assays to digital microfluidics. He then joined the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering at ETH Zurich to work under Petra Dittrich as a Banting Fellow to explore microfluidic platforms for screening bacteria. He joined Toronto Metropolitan University in January 2021, where his research program focuses on the integration of electrochemical sensors with various microfluidic platforms.
