Bio/Research
Dr. Plaza is an Associate Professor of Information Technology Management at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson). She joined Toronto Metropolitan University at 2005 after a 20 year professional career during which she worked in private and public sectors. She has solid background in manufacturing, cost accounting and technology and received the professional designations in: engineering - P.Eng (1996), project management - PMP (2004) and accounting - CIA (2005).
Dr. Plaza implemented, integrated and customized software packages (BAAN, SAP), worked on process reengineering and software development projects, provided consulting in manufacturing technologies, machining, tool design and Supply Chain Systems. She also designed and managed development of several extensions to BAAN package, improving inventory management, production, cost accounting and financial reporting.
Dr. Plaza’s research is focused on development of decision models which support evaluation of business process reengineering initiatives. She also develops performance measurements systems and addresses the impact of organizational learning on technology implementation, productivity and reliability. She takes a holistic approach to technology, project management and corporate performance by articulating multidisciplinary research agenda and analyzing the financial and non-financial aspects. She has published several articles in international journals, such as: OMEGA- the International Journal of Management Science, International Journal of production Economics, International Journal of Production Research, European Journal of Production Research, Decision Support Systems and Information Systems Frontiers.
