Bio/Research

Dr. Molly Henry earned her M.A. and then her Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology at Bowling Green State University in 2011. She has held postdoctoral positions at The Brain and Mind Institute at Western University and at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Leipzig, Germany. She currently leads the Max Planck Research Group Neural and Environmental Rhythms at the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics in Frankfurt.

Dr. Henry’s research is in Auditory Cognitive Neuroscience, and broadly focuses on how synchronization between brain rhythms and environmental rhythms shapes auditory perception, and in the sources of individual differences in successfully achieving brain–environment synchrony. She uses a combination of behavioral/psychophysical and electrophysiological methods in her work.

In addition to numerous conference presentations and invited talks, she has published 43 articles in such high-impact outlets as The Journal of Neuroscience, Neuroimage, and Nature Communications. She currently holds more than €3 million in research funding, including a prestigious European Research Council Starting Grant. In 2016 she was named as a Rising Star by the Association for Psychological Science.
