Bio/Research

Renée Nichole Ferguson has dedicated over a decade to the field of education, specializing in Social Work and Women and Gender Studies. Her teaching experiences, coupled with her own academic journey, have fueled a sustained interest in anti-racism and critical anti-racist pedagogy within the university classroom.

Professor Ferguson holds a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Toronto and another in Political Science from York University. She is a trained social worker and Project Manager Professional (PMP) with a track record of leading education projects in policy and the community mental health sector.

Currently, Professor Ferguson is completing her PhD in Policy Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University, using health policy to document the experiences of Black women in health care.
