Bio/Research

As an interdisciplinary scholar, my research and teaching focus on the natural environment and human health, advanced quantitative analysis for health research, and Indigenous health and well-being, incorporating traditional Indigenous knowledge and Indigenous-led community-based participatory research (CBPR).

Prior to joining TMU, I was a senior lecturer in the Department of Geography, Planning and Environment at Concordia University in Montreal for almost 13 years. I was awarded my doctorate in environmental health from the University of Toronto and then completed postdoctoral training at the University of Toronto and Toronto Metropolitan University, where my research focused on advanced risk assessment of environmental pollutants, SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) transmission, pandemic planning and resiliency. My current research focuses on applications of big data analytics and environmental health and toxicological follow-up studies in Indigenous communities in northern Canada.
