Bio/Research

Robert Rinkoff's responsibilities include teaching the school’s undergraduate research methods courses. In addition, recently, he proposed and developed CLD 420, Children and Nature, which he taught for the first two years it was offered. He is also a member of the School of Graduate Studies faculty. He chaired the university’s Research Ethics Board from 1999 to 2005 and was vice-president of the Faculty Association from 2003 to 2005. He has also chaired the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Space Planning Advisory Committee, co-chaired the TMU Senate Appeals Committee, and has been the assistant director of the School of Early Childhood Studies.

Rinkoff is the principal investigator in a research project entitled Children & the mountain environment: Exploration & education. This undertaking combines scientific research and practice-based experience with the goal of enhancing educational resources for elementary-school-aged children in relation to mountains and mountain wilderness. The project aims to help children — as future decision-makers and voters — see more clearly the importance of preserving mountain wilderness areas.
