Shengkun Xie conducts high-quality research in Risk Modeling, Insurance Rate Making, Health Informatics and Analysis of Agent-based Simulation Models of Complex Systems. Dr. Xie has a Ph.D. in Applied Statistics (2010) and 2 MSc degrees, MSc in Financial Mathematics (2006) and MSc in Actuarial Science (2005). His BSc degree is in Computing and Information (1999). In 2010, Dr. Xie joined the Signal Analysis Research group at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson) as a MITACS Elevate Strategic Postdoctoral Fellow, and engaged in research on advanced health technology. His research expertise lies primarily in data analytics, statistical machine learning, statistical computing, predictive modelling, pattern recognition, and multivariate statistical methods. In addition to teaching at TRSM, he worked as a statistical consultant at Financial Services Commission of Ontario from 2012 to 2015.
