Dr. Shokouh Abadi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Law and Business. She holds a Ph.D. in International Business Law from King’s College London University, an LL.M. in International Commercial Law from City University of London, and an LL.B. from Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran.
Dr. Abadi is a dual-licensed lawyer, a Barrister and Solicitor in Ontario, and a licensed lawyer in Tehran. She has over fifteen years of experience practicing and teaching law across North America, Europe, and the Middle East. Her professional and academic work focuses primarily on business law, contract law, corporate governance, access to justice and sustainable development. Through her legal practice, she seeks to bridge the gap between legal theory and practice by bringing real-world cases into the classroom.
She is a Rule of Law and Human Rights Policy Fellow at the United Nations University, Institute for Water, Environment and Health, where her research explores the intersection of environmental challenges, justice, and governance. Dr. Abadi is also a TEDx speaker and has presented internationally on topics including international business law, compliance, and anti-money laundering. She is committed to promoting access to justice through legal education, particularly by empowering women, and has designed and delivered legal bootcamps for entrepreneurs and women-led businesses across Canada.
